Timber Products
Both hardwood and softwood products are produced from the French-Severn forest. Hardwood trees that are harvested become hardwood sawlogs, fuelwood, pulp, or veneer logs. This forest also produces red and white pine sawlogs and pulp. Hemlock sawlogs are also harvested in this area. All logs and fuelwood from the French-Severn forest are FSC® certified.
These timber products only represent the early stages of what trees from the French-Severn can become. Later on, these products can be turned into an endless number of products including construction lumber, paper, flooring, wood chips, and furniture.
Non-Timber Forest Products
When thinking of forest products, wood products often come to mind first. Many other products also come from forests. These include products such as maple syrup, mushrooms, berries, and medicinal plants. Although Westwind is not responsible for the production and harvesting of these products, we do manage for a diverse forest composition and for specific forest values which result in a variety of non-timber forest products.
Respect. Honesty. Integrity.
